9 days outfield
i survived the 9 days 9 nights outfield exercise! coming back to sg on tue morning around 6am. hooray.

wonder what's happened at work... hope i didnt get retrenched, cos the website still isn't up yet.

i sort of started a blog during our army exercise outfield becos one of our equipment is a laptop and we had nothing to do so my army mates and i took turns to update the blog as and when, to record roughly the interesting things that happened everything so that it won't be such a blur after it ends.

i'm quite proud of the blog actually. it's a team effort and there were lots of different voices in it... quite funny... will upload when i get the saved data from CS back in sg.

now i'm just hanging out at the internet cafe waiting for 11pm then i'll walk 1.5km back to bunk and bathe and then try to sleep in the hot and stuffy room. Every night i'll sweat under the heat till my bedsheets are wet. it's terrible. i think my skin is getting worse.

what else... i visited a thai school today as part of the volunteer group. when we got there, we saw little cute kids of kindergarten and primary school age. looking at them makes me feel a bit sad...

some of the older townfolk were there too. they waited to collect a package of 2 maggie mee and a can of sardines. An old lady, her face dabbed with white powder, walked past as she collected her share and she smiled and talked to me. i could only smile and nod as i didn;t understand what she's saying. Then she held my arm and squeezed. she did the same to my friend too, gesturing to us... i think she meant you guys are fit, or something. or maybe you guys need to eat more! haha..

then its playtime and some of the army mates started playing volleyball and football with the kids. i stood by and watched shyly. then a little boy came by and i played a little game of kick and pass the ball with him. i didn't know what i'm doing actually.

then after that, some of the army people from another company started to collect some money (of their own accord) and i donated some money. they'd decided to give each child on the spot 100 baht. there were around 48 children. then the medical officer noticed what was happening and he decided to top the amount to 200 baht per child. that was quite nice of him.
