A manifesto of youth
Youthful idealism, statement, vision, strategy
Being a youth means
Questioning mind � questioning �truths�, finding their own truth, means questioning themselves, challenging the system/injustice, willing to put themselves forward, politically and socially conscious.
Taking on challenges � taking up responsibilities, not being afraid of new challenges/ obstacles, striving towards their dreams and goals.
Individual yet socially conscious � respecting the individual and knowing that each person has choices in life, to be different from the crowd, to be same as the crowd, more importantly to be true to themselves, and also understanding that each person is interdependent on one another in society, not being selfish and retarded.
Statement
As a portal for youth in SG,
� we will listen to the youth.
� we will look at issues that youth face,
� we will report on youth events,
� we will cover stuff pertinent to our values (as above); the more pertinent, the better,
� we have a right to our own opinions, being mindful that others are entitled to theirs.
Strategy or so-called Marketing
It is not so much about selling to youth.
It is most important to stick to our values and maintain integrity in our communications and being a community/forum for youth to air their views peaceably.
Yes, we sound serious. Because we are.
We are serious about youth. We are not here to patronize them, feed them with spoons, or do hand shadows to entertain them.
Why encourage the young to have fun, be hedonistic, obnoxious and selfish?
I dun want to take up this task, anyone can do it.
We will engage them as peers, as equals, but we maintain our right to stick to our values.
And I think covering their events/issues and staying relevant will be quite fun already.
